Job Description
As a Trainee, you will work alongside experienced underwriters, gaining hands-on experience and insights into essential areas of marine insurance, including:
Risk assessment and underwriting processes
Reviewing and analysing technical reports
Evaluating liability exposure
P&I Rules
FD&D Rules
Hull & Machinery insurance terms and conditions
Handling correspondence with members and external parties
Preparing documentation and decision support within underwriting
Participate in underwriting activities

Qualifications
This trainee position is ideal for recent graduates with a maritime education. Familiarity with marine insurance or nautical knowledge is an advantage. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential.
We are seeking a service-minded, analytical, curious individual with a positive attitude, high motivation, and a proactive approach to work.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced leader to head the P&I and FD&D claims department within Team Sweden. You will lead and develop a team of claims professionals, ensure efficient, high-quality claims handling, and provide top-class service to our Members.
Key Responsibilities: As a Head of Claims, you will oversee, lead, and develop the claims work within Team Sweden.
Examples of work tasks:
Lead, coach and develop the claims team, ensuring strong collaboration, growth and performance.
Manage workload allocation, resource planning and competence development across the department.
Drive process improvements and support the implementation of strategic initiatives.
Engage in business development, seminars and client activities together with Underwriters and the Area Manager.
Maintain oversight of all claims work and handle a personal claims portfolio of cases as needed
Monitor and follow up on team KPIs and claims control functions as directed by Club Management.

This includes tackling money laundering, terrorist financing, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, sanctions evasion and various types of fraud.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed as our Head of AFC, you will need to meet the following requirements:
Experience: A minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience within the financial crime (FinCrime) space is essential. Ideally, you hold professional certifications in at least one of the FinCrime areas, such as Certified AML Specialist or Sanctions Specialist. If you have specialized in a specific area, you should possess a solid understanding of the other areas and be willing to learn or obtain relevant certifications in areas where you have less expertise.
Leadership: Proven leadership experience is required, preferably with a track record of establishing new teams or functions within the FinCrime domain.
Communication: You must be a strong and effective communicator in both English and Swedish. As The Swedish Club operates on a truly global market, you need to collaborate effectively with colleagues across all our international offices.

Your Responsibilities
As the Head of AFC, you will report to the Director Underwriting and take on the following tasks:
Building and leading the newly established AFC function, with full responsibility for its staff. This includes recruiting, developing, and managing a team while ensuring effective allocation of roles and responsibilities.
Developing necessary framework documents to identify and manage The Swedish Club’s FinCrime risks. Examples include instructions for Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.
Providing regular and ad-hoc briefings to the Managing Director and the Board regarding regulatory trends and the status of the AFC function.
Collaborating with the second line of defense and other stakeholders
Ensuring that the Club complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements in Sweden, while maintaining a primary focus on the regulatory frameworks of the UK and Singapore.
