Machine Learning Software Engineer to EnergyTech Startup

Job Description
This is your chance to join us early in our startup journey and play a key role in shaping the future of our product. As a Machine Learning Software Engineer, you will work on:
Developing AI models for fault prediction, anomaly detection, and analysis in power systems.
Designing and optimizing backend services for data ingestion, processing, and analysis.
Collaborating on the design and implementation of scalable cloud infrastructure.
Improving the deployment process with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Translating data science insights into practical, high-performing software solutions.
Ensuring explainability and transparency in AI models (XAI).

You’ll also contribute to core product decisions, experiment with innovative approaches, and help us create a solution that combines technical brilliance with real-world impact.
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who’s curious, ambitious, and excited about solving tough technical challenges. To excel in this role, you likely have:
A M.Sc. or equivalent experience in Data Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of machine learning and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
Experience in software development (Python is a must; other languages are a bonus).
Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Practical experience with data pipelines, signal processing, or time-series analysis.
A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively in a startup environment.

Bonus points if you have:
Knowledge of energy systems, power grids, or signal processing.
Experience with data visualization and interactive dashboards.
Hands-on experience with IEC 61850 or SCADA systems (not required but appreciated).

The technology has its foundation in several years of research from Chalmers University of Technology and the team is constantly pushing the boundaries within the field.

Here is a chance to join in early on an exciting startup journey, where you will play a key role in our product development. In this position, you will get the opportunity to be part of developing new innovative machine learning solutions for the energy sector. The work will include data analysis, algorithm development, software and embedded programming as well as data communication. The position also includes continuous dialogue and cooperation with our customers, all to ensure optimal product-market-fit. Therefore, it is great if you like explorative problem solving, a bit of uncertainty and diverse working tasks. Who you are
To help us move forward we see that you have at least a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.


It is also advantageous if you have previously worked with, or want to evolve within:
Theoretical and practical aspects of deep learning, machine learning and data analysis
Software development experience in high and low level languages and development frameworks, such as Python, Jupyter, Docker, Matlab, C, C++
Experience in analysis of electrical systems
Basic knowledge of embedded programming and hardware
