Information about the department and the position
The Department of Communication and Learning in Science at Chalmers University of Technology consists of eight divisions, including the Division for Research Support, Bibliometrics and Ranking. It also includes Chalmers' libraries located in four places on our two campuses. In total, the department has some 90 employees, a majority of whom are librarians, teachers and researchers.
The focus of the department is scientific communication and learning, with focus on research, education and competence development in pedagogy and didactics in engineering education, as well as in communication and information competence. The library is an integral part with physical facilities and a rich offer of digital resources.
The Division for Research Support, Bibliometrics and Ranking is Chalmers' common resource for researchers/teachers and managers/leaders to turn to for operational and strategic issues related to scientific publishing, open access, university ranking, open research data and bibliometric follow-up.
At this point we are looking for 1-2 new co-workers who are interested in scientific communication and have good knowledge of scientific information and bibliometrics. You are also IT-savvy and understand and are interested in working with data management and processing.
Job description
The candidate will work in the Division of Research Support, Bibliometrics, and Ranking on a project funded by the gender equality initiative GENIE at Chalmers. The candidate will assist with data collection from bibliographical databases such as WOS, Scopus etc., data cleaning, project management tasks, proof reading and editing of journal articles and project related texts. The candidate will also assist in the organization of seminars, communication of results and other information via social media and other channels.
Position summary
The position is a part-time temporary employment, 50% until 2020-12-31.
Qualifications
MSc degree in library and information science, related fields, or equivalent. Experience with data collection, data cleaning and using bibliographical databases and alternative sources of information about research outputs. Work experience with data and analytics using Excel. Proof reading and editorial experience in English at a native level or equivalent. Published academic publications, appropriate degree or equivalent experience in bibliometrics, altmetrics, and gender in academia.
