You bring fundamental scientific understanding of formulation science and hands-on laboratory experience, with the ability to work independently and contribute in cross-functional development settings.

In PT&D, we are the bridge between science and innovative medicines that help millions of people. We design and deliver active ingredients, formulations and devices required to support new medicines-from supplies for use in early toxicology studies and clinical trials to developing technology to enable scale up for commercial manufacture. At GPD we focus on oral, inhaled, and parenteral drug products, playing a key role in the development of new medicinal products.

What you'll do:
We are looking for lab-based scientists for work within our functions Formulation Product Development and Process Technology and Engineering. The roles will have different focus depending on academic background/professional experience, either pharmaceutical development or process control and engineering. In this role you will work closely with a team of colleagues in a multi-skilled environment to design, develop and deliver high quality clinical and commercial formulations and processes.

You can expect to contribute to programs of laboratory scale experiments with line of sight for commercial manufacture by using modelling and simulation approaches as first intent. We expect that you, just like us within Global Product Development, have a passion for application of digital tools.

* Work hands-on in the laboratories (small and large scale) to generate drug product for further characterisation and confirmation of predictions
* Work collaboratively with colleagues with different backgrounds to identify/use/drive digital applications to strategically direct development
* Be part of cross-functional teams delivering drug projects, including contributions to regulatory documentation and submissions, applying your understanding of drug development and relevant requirements from medical authorities
* Take part in tech transfer of manufacturing methods to other sites (within and/or outside AZ) and give consultation to internal and external parties
* Be a key player to drive and further develop the digital transformation within Global Product Development.
* Establish strong working relationships with the modelling & simulation team and with other colleagues to enable an impact-driven application of modelling and simulation tools
* Manage your own work to achieve drug development and improvement project targets, in a timely fashion and to agreed quality standards, by applying technical knowledge and expertise as well as interpreting results.
* Participate in scientific and/or technology networks to increase base-line knowledge and create awareness of new developments in relevant areas

Are you looking for an exciting multi-disciplinary position where analytical experimental skills and mass spectrometry instruments are used? The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) is an open access facility organized within the Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, www.cf.gu.se. The Facility is a biological mass spectrometry (MS) platform that provides scientific expertise and advanced instrumentations for high quality research support. The MS platform is part of the national BIOMS infrastructure, www.bioms.se,  supported by the Swedish Research Council as well as a part of the SciLifeLab national resource of unique technologies, www.scilifelab.se, within the Glycoproteomics and MS Proteomics unit.

 

PCF offers a wide range of proteomic research support, from small- to large-scale mass spectrometry–based studies for protein quantification and comparative analysis, to specialized applications in glycomics and glycoproteomics. We use Orbitrap and timsTOF mass spectrometers interfaced with LC systems to answer advanced biological questions in natural sciences and in medicine to support the discovery of biomarkers and disease-associated pathways.

 

Duties 

• Designing and planning experiments, executing, and managing user-requested proteomics and other MS-based research projects, including hands-on laboratory work.


• Operation of the MS instruments, Orbitraps (Thermo Scientific) and tims-TOFs (Bruker) interfaced with nano-LCs.


• Performing data analysis and interpretation using established proteomics software and tools, such as Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut, Skyline, Byonic, Perseus and R-based Shiny applications.
• Documenting experiments and method development for project tracking and publications; being updated with current with relevant technologies and scientific literature; and participating in scientific conferences.
• Providing scientific support and consultation to internal and external users throughout all stages of proteomics projects

 

 

A key focus of the position will be the planning and execution of proteomics and MS experiments in close collaboration with platform users and the team members, as well as sharing knowledge within the facility team. You will take part in multiple projects applied to different biological materials and research questions. The bioinformatic/statistic component of the proteomic pipeline is an important part of the work, to be able to assist the users in interpretation and integration of the proteomics data into biology. The position also involves surveying, implementing and optimizing new technological approaches, experimental protocols and software related to proteomics and MS.

 

Qualifications 
We are seeking an experimental scientist with a documented strong background and relevant expertise in proteomics and high resolution MS, including identification, quantitative and/or post-translational modification studies.

 


• The applicant must have hands-on experience in proteomics and mass spectrometry, including the complete workflow from sample preparation to MS analysis.
• The successful candidate shall have knowledge and experience with MS data analysis and major proteomic software packages, e.g. Proteome Discoverer and Spectronaut, DiaNN, FragPipe etc.
• The candidate shall be able to present previous work in proteomic studies.
• Knowledge in manual interpretation of MS spectra as well as programming/writing scripts is highly desirable and a merit.
• Knowledge in post-translational modifications, glycoproteomics or glycomics is a merit.
• Excellent communicational and organizational skills, strong teamworking ability and a service-minded attitude are essential and will be evaluated in the team as part of the selection process.
• Flexibility, problem-solving capabilities and ability to adapt to rapid changes together with a deeper understanding of academic research is a merit and will be evaluated together with the team.

 

Employment 
The employment is a full-time (100%), permanent position, placed at Proteomics Core Facility within the Core Facilities at the University of Gothenburg. A probationary employment period of 6 months may be applied. Start date as soon as possible based on agreement.

Lead a team of bioanalytical and mass spectrometry experts, based in the UK and Sweden, in non-GXP bioanalysis of large molecules

Develop novel quantitative mass spectrometry workflows combining digestion-based or intact molecule analysis to address sophisticated bioanalytical challenges related to drug discovery and development for ADC, oligonucleotide and other drug modalities in a variety of biological matrices
*

Elaborate, validate/qualify state-of-the-art mass spectrometry assays in support of pharmacokinetic, toxicokinetic, pharmacodynamic, mechanistic, safety, prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers
*

Lead internal/external collaborative projects working together with safety scientist, pharmacologists, toxicologists, imaging scientists, pathologists, data scientists and translational science experts across global AstraZeneca teams

Support effective project planning and project management, from sample arrival through to assisting with reports to collaborators
*

Operate, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of recent instruments

Arbetsuppgifter

Kemisterna vid AMM deltar i analytiskt-kemiskt forsknings- och utvecklingsarbete och utför analyser i samband med regionala preventiva projekt, arbetsplatsutredningar och externa analysuppdrag. Vi arbetar utpräglat tvärvetenskapligt och du kommer att arbeta i en grupp bestående av kemister, yrkeshygieniker, läkare, statistiker med flera. Du förväntas delta i analysarbetet samt bidra till verksamhetens utveckling, genom att till exempel föreslå och driva metodutvecklingsprojekt och genom att initiera samarbeten både internt och med parter utanför organisationen. Du skall kunna agera både som projektledare och som specialist. Handledning av examensarbetare och doktorander kan bli aktuellt, liksom undervisning. De analytiska tekniker som i dagsläget finns vid laboratoriet är olika kromatografiska och masspektrometriska metoder (GC, HPLC ev SFC och MS), olika metoder och tekniker för provtagning och provupparbetning (till exempel SPE, ATD). Vid AMM finns dessutom en mängd instrument och olika tekniker för direkt eller indirekt mätning av aerosoler intressanta för arbets- och miljömedicinska frågeställningar. Du förväntas kunna vara bollplank i frågor om analystekniker som bygger på fysikalisk-kemiska principer.

Kvalifikationer

Vi söker en senior kemist med bred erfarenhet av kemisk problemlösning, brett kunnande inom provtagning och analys av kemiska ämnen i luft och i biologiska matriser. Det krävs teoretisk och praktisk kunskap inom olika instrumentella analytiska tekniker och intresse för kromatografi, masspektrometri samt förmåga att sätta sig in i olika instrument- och systemmjukvaror. Då en kemist förväntas ta en ledande/projektledande roll krävs erfarenhet av detta.

Körkort är krav då tjänsteresor i VGR och Halland förekommer. Du behärskar svenska och engelska väl i tal och skrift.

Vi ser gärna att du är genuint intresserad av praktisk problemlösning och analytisk kemi, inkluderande multivariat dataanalys och biokemi/biomedicin. Forskningserfarenhet är meriterande, liksom erfarenhet av arbete inom arbetsmiljö/miljöarbete inkluderande att leda/handleda andra. Erfarenheter från undervisning/utbildning av personal/studenter är meriterande. Då vi är en enhet för specialanalyser, är också erfarenhet av många olika typer av tekniker och analysinstrument meriterande.

The Department of Life Sciences aims to bridge groundbreaking life science research with biochemical engineering, in order to emerge as the leading innovation center in the region. It is furthermore collaborating in broad, interdiciplinary national and international networks within academia and the industry.

The Division of Food and Nutrition Science is one of four research divisions at the Department of Life Sciences. It is one of the leading units in the area in Sweden with particular strengths in nutritional and computational metabolomics, dietary biomarkers, micronutrient metal nutrition, nutritional immunology, marine food science, plant based foods and nutrition as well as food by-product biorefining and protein technology. The division has a wide range of modern analytical equipment for chromatography coupled with mass spectrometery, an in vitro human cell laboratory, and food technology laboratory. The division focuses on nutritional solutions for health and disease prevention by studies on the molecular, cellular, and whole-body level. It also has a strong focus on sustainable use of food raw materials and on many different quality aspects of food.


Job description
As a Research Engineer, you will provide analytical and technical support to the ongoing research at the Food and Nutriton Science Division. Your responsibilities will include development of methods, analysis of samples and maintenance of instruments at the division. You will also have a responsibility to train undergraduate students, PhD-students and post docs within a range of analytical techniques, particularly in chromatography and mass spectrometry.

In this role, you will interact in project groups with senior researchers, PhD-students, postdocs, students as well as with external guest, eg. from industry and/or other institutions. You will be expected to collaborate closely with other Research Engineers at the Division and Department and with specific analytical platforms at Chalmers, such as Chalmers Mass Spectrometry Infrastructue which is part of the national metabolomics infrastructure at SciLifelab.

Depending on the experience and documented qualifications, the holder of the position can either be empolyed as a Research Engineer or as a Senior Research Engineer.

Arbetsuppgifter

NanoSIMS Sverige är en anläggning vid Göteborgs universitet. Den grundades 2015 med målet att tillhandahålla masspektrometrisk avbildningsteknik med rumslig upplösning i nanoskala till forskare i Sverige. Sedan dess har man utökat sina tjänster till forskare över hela Norden. NanoSIMS Sverige har som mål att vara en omfattande plattform för molekylär och elementär avbildning med fokus på life science och medicinsk vetenskap. NanoSIMS är en unik sekundär jon-nanosond i Norden, med förmåga att mäta elementär, isotopisk, oorganisk, organisk till biomolekylär fördelning i alla typer av prover med utmärkt känslighet (ppm), 2D/3D-avbildning kan utföras med utmärkt rumslig upplösning (~50 nm i sidled, ~10 nm axiellt). Arbetsuppgifter 
Vi söker en person som kan bidra till NanoSIMS Sverige-anläggningen vid Göteborgs universitet. Denna tjänst som Förste forskningsingenjör är en tillsvidareanställning på heltid som inleds med 6 månaders provanställning. Den involverar den dagliga driften av NanoSIMS-instrumentet, underhåll av NanoSIMS, och att interagera med NanoSIMS-tillverkaren och NanoSIMS-kunder. Tjänsten kräver erfarenhet av avbildande masspektrometri och gärna direkt erfarenhet av NanoSIMS.

Arbetet kommer att omfatta den dagliga driften av NanoSIMS-instrumentet, körning av prover för kunder, analys av data, tolkning och kontakt med NanoSIMS-tillverkaren och NanoSIMS-kunderna. Tjänsten kräver erfarenhet av avbildande masspektrometri och helst direkt erfarenhet av NanoSIMS. Arbetet kommer att omfatta den dagliga driften av NanoSIMS-instrumentet, körning av prover för kunder, analys av data, tolkning och kontakt med NanoSIMS-tillverkaren och NanoSIMS-kunderna. Tjänsten kräver erfarenhet av avbildande masspektrometri och helst direkt erfarenhet av NanoSIMS.


• Att planera, designa och utförande av den dagliga driften av NanoSIMS-instrumentet, som finns på AstraZeneca (Mölndal, Sverige).
• Att samarbeta med NanoSIMS-tillverkaren och AstraZeneca för att underhålla NanoSIMS-labbet.
• Att återkommande kommunicera med chefen för NanoSIMS-anläggningen angående alla operativa frågor på anläggningen.
• Att interagera med kunder, köra prover för kunder, analysera data, datatolkning.
• Att utbilda NanoSIMS-användare i rutinmässig NanoSIMS-drift.
• Att arbeta på anläggningens hemsida, Linkedin, samt andra sociala medier för att öka synligheten av anläggningen.
• Att involvera uppsökande verksamhet för potentiella kunder, genom att till exempel delta i vetenskapliga möten och konferenser.

Kvalifikationer 
Krav: En doktorsexamen i ett område relaterat till analytisk kemi eller kemisk avbildning med minst två års erfarenhet efter doktorsexamen är ett krav. Minst ett års erfarenhet av avbildande masspektrometri krävs.  

Meriterande: Direkt erfarenhet av att använda och använda SIMS, eller Cameca NanoSIMS, är önskvärd.Det är meriterande att vara samarbetsvillig, ansvarstagande, kommunikativ och att vara en person som gillar att arbeta med utmaningar och i tvärvetenskaplig miljö är meriterande.

Anställning 
Anställningen är en tillsvidareanställning och som inleds med en provanställning om sex månader vid institutionen för kemi och molekylärbiologi. Tjänsten är på heltid, 100%. Arbetet kommer att utföras vid NanoSimslabbet, AstraZeneca, Mölndal.

Arbetsuppgifter
Anställningen innebär att utveckla och validera nya kroppsvätskebaserade biomarkörer för neurodegenerativa sjukdomar genom masspektrometriska och immunokemiska mätmetoder, med särskilt fokus på standardisering av mätmetoder för neurofilament light polypeptide (Nfl). Dessutom ingår att i anställningen handleda studenter och doktorander, delta i konferenser, ansöka om forskningsanslag, delta i doktorandutbildningar, med mera. Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will join a highly competent team and collaboratively drive the delivery of pure compounds to our early portfolio. With a background in separation science, you'll demonstrate expertise applied to the purification and characterization of synthetic Peptides, Oligonucleotides and molecular conjugates thereof.

This is a laboratory-based role where you will be accountable for providing separation science expertise and facilitate the delivery of different new modalities with right quality to portfolio projects across our therapy areas within AstraZeneca. Du ska genomföra stark sammankoppling av molekylära energiövergångar och ljus, vilket gör att fotonerna som absorberas av molekylerna inte längre är lokaliserad på respektive molekyl utan sprids ut över hela systemet. Om det här görs i ett system som består av två olika material befinner sig energin också vid gränsytan mellan materialen, dit energin kan kanaliseras. I projektet kommer energiöverföringen mellan utspridda tillstånd och tillstånd som är lokaliserade i gränsytan studeras. Frågor som rör hur kopplingen mellan dessa tillstånd beror av systemets utförande kommer att besvaras. Detta är frågeställningar som är av akademisk art, men ett lyckat projekt kommer påverka sättet som organiska solceller produceras. Det här eftersom de två materialen genom den starka kopplingen bara behöver blandas kvantmekaniskt i stället för fysiskt för att ge en effektiv laddningsseparation. Praktiska arbetsuppgifter kommer att vara fokuserade på substrattillverkning, testning (vilket framför allt inbegriper optisk spektroskopi), och analys. Du kommer att arbeta självständigt inom en forskargrupp på ca åtta personer.

This is a specialist role where you will contribute to and maintain the global IPD automated testing strategy and work collaboratively with many colleagues within analytical and automation skill areas. You will:

* Lead development and implementation of lab automation globally across IPD on our journey towards the autonomous analytical lab of the future. Step by step we will be implementing our strategy that includes autonomous mobile collaborative robots, liquid handlers and many other types of lab automation. Eventually, in a not too distant future, we'll be closing the loop by introducing AI into our workflows.
* Lead technology transfer activities where our innovative automated solutions are implemented in the QC Labs on our manufacturing sites.
* Evaluate new automated systems to understand if they should be part of the autonomous analytical lab of the future.
* Collaborate with peers outside of AstraZeneca that have also set their course towards the autonomous analytical lab of the future.
* Provide input to business cases and lead change management in conjunction with implementation of the new automated systems or software applications.

Essential for the role
To be successful in this role you will need expertise in implementation of automation in a life science setting. Good skills in written and verbal communication in English and the ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries with a positive problem-solving demeanour and delivery focus are required.

* University degree (MSc, PhD) in relevant subject area, with industry experience and good understanding of analytical chemistry
* Proven experience of leading development and application of automated systems and software applications
* Experience of leading multidisciplinary project teams.
* Very good knowledge of solutions available in the area of lab automation with awareness of global automation suppliers
* Awareness of the life cycle management process of automated systems
* Documented expertise in practical/hands-on implementation of automation (e.g., liquid handling robotics, sample preparation, bioassay automation).

What you’ll do
As a Biomarker Scientist, you will be a key member in the Biomarker Discovery and Development team and play a key role from preclinical to clinical biomarker delivery for progressing projects and science. This role will be primarily lab based and contribute to building the biomarker strategy i.e., driving biomarker discovery for identification of target-related biomarkers and for precision medicine hypothesis generation. You will be responsible for delivering high quality and robust biomarker data package to support project progression across the CVRM project portfolio. This involves implementation of novel biomarker methods e.g. mass spectrometry-based approaches using state of the art analytical techniques, biomarker analysis, reporting biomarker data and evaluation to the project teams. Collaboration is critical for successful delivery of drug projects and you will work closely with scientists/teams from a wide range of different functions within AstraZeneca. What you'll do

Your principle responsibility will be in the lab, designing, developing, and interpreting assays to support drug program transition through lead candidate selection. Representing the department on multidiscipline drug development teams, thus ability to support other technologies in the lab, especially ligand binding assays, will be a benefit. The Physical and Analytical Chemistry team at R&I Medicinal Chemistry is working with a strong research focus to deliver Small Molecule (SM) and New Modalities (NM) drug candidates. The analytical team is operating in close collaboration with Medicinal Chemists and scientists in neighboring departments with a joint aim of discovery of the respiratory medicines of the future.

What you'll do
This is a lab based role in a team of analytical experts (LC-MS and NMR) supporting the Medicinal Chemistry of Small Molecules and New Modalities in early drug discovery. The daily work in this role includes hands-on operation of LC-HRMS instruments and evaluation/processing of analytical data with the aim to support early drug discovery projects with state-of-the-art analytics. Based on your thorough LC-MS competence, you will support the drug pipeline with a variety of applications from high-throughput compound library analysis to in-depth characterization of in-vivo and tox batches.

* Efficient advancement of AZ drug discovery portfolio by applying LC-HRMS methods
* Driving internal build of analytical methodology for both small molecule and new modality compounds
* Effective collaboration with project team members and colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry and DMPK departments

Essential for the role
* PhD in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent professional experience from industry
* Significant and documented expertise in chemistry and mass spectrometry
* Demonstrated expertise in MS characterization of small and/or large synthetic molecules by MS/MS
* Experience and knowledge of separation techniques beyond RP-UPLC is a plus
* Experience from a variety of MS fragmentation techniques, digitalization of analytical workflows and automation is desirable

Gruppen Labb- och mätverksamhet utför mätningar, vattenprovtagning och analyserar prover med avseende på fysikaliska-, kemiska-, och biologiska parametrar.

Större delen av arbetet utgörs av det nationella övervakningsprogrammet för Östersjön och Västerhavet med månatliga provtagningar i Skagerrak, Kattegatt och Östersjön. Miljöövervakningen utförs på uppdrag av HaV och är en del av Sveriges åtaganden inom HELCOM och OSPAR. På uppdrag av regionala vattenvårdsförbund utförs dessutom kustnära övervakningsprogram.

Gruppen är sammansatt av kemister och marinbiologer med erfarenhet av mätsystem, marina provtagningar och laboratoriearbete. Laboratoriet är ackrediterat enligt kravspecifikationen ISO 17025, och stor vikt läggs därför vid kvalitetsledning, med målet att producera pålitliga data för trendanalyser, tillståndsrapporter och verifikation av miljömålsuppfyllning.

• Du spelar en betydande roll i laboratoriearbetet där du utför provanalyser, tillverkar olika reagenser samt underhåller och kalibrerar mätutrustning.
• Du deltar aktivt i implementeringen av kvalitetsledningssystemet och känner att det är din uppgift att producera resultat av god kvalitet.
• Du deltar i arbetet till sjöss, hanterar och sköter om provtagnings- och mätutrustning samt utför vissa provanalyser till sjöss. Det blir ca 4-6 veckolånga resor med forskningsfartyget R/V Svea per år.
• Du granskar data och sköter leverans av data till datavärdskapet.
• Du är en lagspelare som samtidigt kan ta ansvar för dina egna uppgifter samt visa flexibilitet när det gäller resor och arbetsinsatser.

Vi söker dig som är kvalitetsmedveten och som tycker om att arbeta självständigt men samtidigt arbetar bra tillsammans med andra. Som person är du flexibel, lojal och serviceinriktad.

Du har relevant akademisk grundutbildning inom naturvetenskap, som marinkemist, analytiskkemist, marinbiolog eller liknande.

Du ska ha kunskaper om kalibrering och underhåll av analysinstrument.

Du har goda kunskaper i Office-paketet och har lätt att utrycka dig i tal och skrift både på svenska och engelska.

Du bör ha erfarenhet av analysarbete på ett laboratorium där miljöprover, företrädesvis vattenprover.

Du bör också ha erfarenhet av marint fältarbete, gärna i form av vattenprovtagning och mätningar till sjöss, samt av att använda tekniska mätsystem (CTD, ADCP, ferry-box eller liknande).

Vi ser gärna att du har kunskaper i statistiska programvaror, LIMS-system, databaser och stor erfarenhet av Excel.

Det är meriterande om du har programmeringskunskaper, Python, R, Matlab eller liknande. Även erfarenhet av analysarbete på ett vattenanalyslaboratorium, om det skett under ett kvalitetsledningssystem enligt ISO 17025 är meriterande och kunskap om tekniska instrument och erfarenhet att kalibrera/serva dem.

Det är också en fördel om du har erfarenhet av att bearbeta marina data och av att skriva rapporter och presentera resultat och slutsatser.

We are now recruiting a Senior Bioanalytical Scientist, to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department within the Early Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism therapeutic area (CVRM).

Early CVRM is one of the three main therapeutic research areas within AstraZeneca which deliver candidate drugs into clinical development. Early CVRM DMPK is based in AstraZeneca's world-class vibrant R&D center, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. DMPK interacts with other functions in supporting CVRM projects along the value chain, from target selection all the way to launch and life cycle management.

The DMPK bioanalysis team delivers fundamental understanding of drug disposition, which includes responsibility for bioanalysis of drug candidates in biological samples generated in non-clinical studies. The data generated is mainly aimed to provide insight to quantitative pharmacology as well as right tissue and right exposure aspects, including the fate of drug substances and metabolites. This role will expand our capability regarding bioanalysis of new modality drugs with focus on oligonucleotides, and stretching to other drug modalities, e.g. peptides, PROTACs, or small molecules and drug conjugates. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate and witness what science can do.

We continually push the boundaries of science to deliver medicines that treat diseases across our main therapy areas. Through our integration with Alexion, this now includes expanding the limits of scientific research to better understand rare diseases and to discover new life-changing treatments for them.

What you'll do

This is a lab-based role, where you will act as an expert in your area, providing proficient scientific advice on bioanalysisis of oligonucleotides and other drug modalities.

You will be responsible for analysing drug candidates and their metabolites in various in-vitro and in-vivo samples to support PKPD (Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics) work in projects from target selection to LCM (life cycle management). Responsibilities include:

Identify innovative approaches and technologies that would improve our ability to support projects, with the vital quality and scientific input aligned with drug project needs.

Make judgements about bioanalytical input, develop innovative solutions and apply inter-disciplinary and industry understanding.
