Vid institutionen bedrivs forskning och utbildning som sätter människans hälsa och livskvalitet i fokus. Vi representerar 16 olika ämnesområden och är indelade i fyra sektioner. Genom ett berikande samarbete med sjukvården och Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset har vi utvecklat samprojekt och mötesplatser som gynnar både vården och forskningen.

Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper, Avdelningen för obstetrik och gynekologi, vid Sahlgrenska akademin söker en postdoktor för epidemiologiska och kliniska studier inom obstetrik. Forskningen fokuserar framförallt på samband mellan infektion under graviditet och graviditetsutfall och olika frågeställningar relaterad till handläggning av komplicerad graviditet och förlossning.

Forskargruppen leds av professor Verena Sengpiel. Forskargruppen finns vid Göteborgs universitet och vid Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhus, Göteborg, och inkluderar både klinisk och forskande personal. Huvudspråken är engelska och svenska.

 

Ämne 
Infektion under graviditet, handläggning av komplicerad graviditet

 

Ämnesbeskrivning 
Virala infektioner är relativt vanliga under graviditet och kan innebära allvarliga risker för både den gravida kvinnan och det växande barnet. Trots detta är det fortsatt svårt att förutse vilka graviditeter som kommer att påverkas eller hur virusexponering leder till negativa hälsoutfall. Forskning om infektioner under graviditet är utmanande, eftersom många gravida inte söker vård vid milda symtom och eventuella effekter på barnet kan visa sig långt efter genomgången infektion. COVID?19?pandemin gav en unik möjlighet att undersöka hur virussjukdomar påverkar graviditet, kvinnans och barnens hälsa på både kort och långt sikt. 

På grund av potentiella risker för fostret utesluts gravida kvinnor rutinmässigt från kliniska studier, vilket leder till betydande kunskapsluckor om hälsa, sjukdom och vård under graviditet. Graviditet innebär unika fysiologiska och immunologiska förändringar, vilket gör att forskning på icke?gravida vuxna inte är tillräckligt för att studera risker och utfall i denna grupp. Eftersom obstetrik ofta kräver snabba beslut och vård dygnet runt är forskningen inom området särskilt krävande. För att förbättra säkerhet och vårdkvalitet behövs en dedikerad forskningsinfrastruktur och väl utformade studier som systematiskt utvärderar behandlingar, vård och utfall under graviditet, så att kliniska beslut kan baseras på solid vetenskaplig evidens.

 

Arbetsuppgifter 
Som postdoktor kommer din huvuduppgift att vara att bedriva högkvalitativ forskning inom perinatal medicin. Du får stora möjligheter att utveckla fokus inom de pågående projekten och dina egna forskningsintressen. Det förväntas också att du bidrar till andra projekt, både från samarbetspartners och andra forskare i arbetsgruppen.

Du kommer att ansvara för datainsamling, kvalitetskontroll, analys, och att sprida forskningsresultat. Dina arbetsuppgifter inkluderar att arbeta med analyser av både registerdata (svenska hälso- och kvalitetsregister) och data insamlade inom ramen för studierna, t ex analyssvar från olika biologiska prover och enkätbaserade data, samt att bidra som första- eller medförfattare till forskningsmanuskript.

Vidare förväntas du handleda master- och doktorandstudenter och bidra till vetenskapliga publikationer med hög genomslagskraft.

Utöver forskningsuppgifterna innebär rollen ett ansvar för olika typer av administrativt arbete för PI och hela gruppens behov relaterat till akademisk forskning. Det inkluderar att skriva anslagsansökningar, vetenskapliga rapporter, ansökan för registeruttag och etikansökningar. Du kommer även att hantera inlämning till tidskrifter och andra forskningsrelaterade uppgifter.

Inom forskargruppen för biostatistik bedrivs forskning, undervisning och konsultationsverksamhet. Fokus är på de tillämpade statistiska metoder som kan användas för att besvara forskningsfrågor inom hälsovetenskaperna, såsom medicin, folkhälsovetenskap, globalhälsa, fysioterapi och vårdvetenskap. Undervisningen i biostatistik innefattar kurser och moment inom dels grundutbildningen vid Sahlgrenska akademins program och kurser, men är också riktad mot doktorander där vi bland annat ansvarar för en del av det obligatoriska kurspaketet för doktorander antagna vid Sahlgrenska akademin. 

Arbetsuppgifter 
Arbetsuppgifterna innefattar undervisning i biostatistik, främst inom grundutbildningen vid Sahlgrenska akademins program och kurser. Vägledning vid studenters examensarbeten gällande metodval och genomförande av statistisk analys, samt statistiska aspekter på forskningsfrågor och insamling av data, är ett exempel på en förekommande arbetsuppgift. Handleda studenter i diskussioner vid seminarier och workshops är ett annat exempel. Anställningen är på timmar vid behov med en omfattning på ca 0–20% per månad.

Kvalifikationer 
För anställningen krävs en magister-/mastersexamen inom matematisk statistik. Mycket god förmåga till muntlig och skriftlig kommunikation på svenska är ett behörighetskrav.

Stor vikt läggs vid pedagogisk skicklighet. Erfarenhet av undervisning inom biostatistik till studenter vid medicinsk fakultet utan eller med begränsade förkunskaper i statistik och matematik, såväl på grundnivå som på avancerad nivå, är starkt meriterande. Det är också meriterande med erfarenhet av medicinsk forskning och författarskap vid publicering av forskningsresultat, samt genomgången högskolepedagogisk utbildning.

Vi lägger stor vikt vid personlig lämplighet, så som förmåga att möta studenter på olika nivå, vara pragmatisk, lösningsorienterad och positiv.

Bioinformatics and Data Centre (BDC) är den enhet inom Core Facilities vid Göteborgs universitet som tillhandahåller specialistkompetens inom bioinformatik och statistik till forskargrupper på Göteborgs universitet samt till utvecklingsprojekt på Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset. Vi söker en skicklig statistiker specialiserad inom biostatistik och stora datamängder till teamet på BDC. Du kommer att arbeta med analyser av komplexa biologiska dataset inom såväl kliniska- som forskningsfrågeställningar. Detta är en spännande möjlighet att utveckla och tillämpa toppmoderna tekniker och samverka med ledande forskare och klinisk personal över hela Sverige.

 

Arbetsuppgifter 
Som statistiker med inriktning på biostatistik vid BDC kommer du att arbeta i olika tvärdisciplinära team med flera projekt samtidigt. Du kommer att utveckla verktyg och statistiska metoder som du kommer att erbjuda som rutintjänster till forskare. Arbetet utförs självständigt eller i samarbete med andra, vilket kräver flexibilitet och anpassningsförmåga. Det är också viktigt att kunna utföra analyser baserade på forskarnas vetenskapliga krav på ett tidseffektivt och kvalitetsmedvetet sätt.

 

Kvalifikationer 

• Du ska ha en doktorsexamen i matematisk statistik eller motsvarande ämnen som arbetsgivaren anser relevanta för anställningen.

 

Nödvändigt för rollen:


• Minst två års erfarenhet av att arbeta i en forskningsinfrastruktur med statistik. Det inkluderar:

• Omfattande erfarenhet inom biostatistik.
• Programmering i R/Python på en god till avancerad nivå.

• Goda teoretiska kunskaper av molekylärbiologiska och genomiska metoder.

Meriterande kvalifikationer: 


• Postdoktor-erfarenhet.
• Praktisk erfarenhet av multivariat statistisk, maskininlärning och statistisk modellering.
• Erfarenhet av undervisning och utveckling av läromedel.

Arbetsuppgifter 
Som statistiker på Bioinformatics and Data Centre kommer du att arbeta med analys av komplexa dataset inom både kliniska- och forskningsrelaterade frågeställningar. Du kommer dels arbeta med utveckling av nya metoder i samarbete med forskargrupper eller diagnostiska team bestående av läkare, molekylärbiologer och biomedicinska analytiker, dels också ansvara för att utvecklade metoder omsätts i stabila processer.

Eftersom du kommer att arbeta med flera projekt samtidigt med olika prioritet krävs att du är organiserad som person och självständigt ansvarar för din dagliga planering, dataanalys och presentation av resultat till slutanvändare.

Du behöver snabbt kunna sätta dig in i nya programvaror och vid behov skriva din egen programkod för att analysera, automatisera och visualisera data. Även undervisning och assistans vid centrets kurser kommer vara en del av ditt arbete. Du behöver därför ha ett stort intresse för big-data och biologi.

 

Kvalifikationer 

• Du ska ha en doktorsexamen inom matematisk statistik eller motsvarande.
• Du ska ha erfarenhet av analys av genetiska och epidemiologiska data samt maskininlärning krävs.
• Du ska ha god erfarenhet av programmering med R.
• Du bör visa mycket god skriftlig och muntlig kommunikationsförmåga på engelska då det krävs i det dagliga arbetet.
• Du bör kunna arbeta självständigt såväl som en del av ett team.
• Erfarenhet av att arbeta i en forskningsinfrastruktur är meriterande.

Anställning 
Detta är ett vikariat på 18 månader, med möjlighet till förlängning. Anställningen är på heltid (100%) och är placerad vid Bioinformatics and Data Centre (BDC), Sahlgrenska akademin. Startdatum snarast enligt överenskommelse.

This is an opportunity to contribute to and deliver prioritized activities within the remit of clinical data science & statistics. Your responsibilities will include clinical data management, clinical programming, and statistics as well as advanced analytics and informatics. You will work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective use and provisioning of available clinical data and information for regulatory and business needs. What you’ll need
Medical/scientific/computer science education on BSc/MSc/PhD level or equivalent
Several years’ experience from Clinical Data Management / Programming Statistics
Programming experience in key software’s such as SAS, R, Python
Experience working with clinical data capture systems and data bases
Hands on experience in , BI software, data modelling and machine learning
Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English



Preferred experience:
Experience of Data Management & Analysis of various study types such as investigator sponsored studies, pre/post- registration studies, post market clinical follow up studies, human healthy volunteer studies, registry studies
Proficient in external standards such as CDISK and FAIR
Knowledge in national and international requirements and regulations within the area of clinical studies for medical devices
Experienced in scientific writing
Audit experience

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Being part of cross functional teams, to lead the biostatistician parts in projects within and outside M&E.

CAPABILITIES; QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Relevant medical/scientific/computer education on MSc level or equivalent
5-7 years biostatistics (and data management) within clinical research area (medical device, pharmaceutical or from a CRO)
Solid training in clinical research methodology and in biostatistics
Good networking and organizational skills as well as entrepreneurial sense of ownership and execution
Knowledge in national and international requirements and regulations within the area of clinical studies for medical devices.
Experience with statistical data analysis software
Experience of working with clinical data, databases, project management and working as part of a multidisciplinary team

The Late R&I Biometrics Team Leader reports to the Biometrics Strategy Lead and is accountable for operational planning and delivery of the Late Statistics contribution to the development plans for projects in the R&I therapeutic area.
