Our team, “Cybersecurity Infrastructure Capabilities and Type approval” within the department Cybersecurity and Functional safety, is in the heart of a great transformation. We work with developing and improving our product cybersecurity management systems (PCSMS) in a continuous manner along with releasing cybersecurity infrastructure requirement supporting teams to do high level attack vector analysis and vehicle TARA analysis to facilitate releasing work products according to state-of-the-art standards such as ISO/SEA 21434 and UNECE 155. We are also coordinating the cybersecurity work across the organization at Volvo Group Trucks Technology.


The Role:
Our mission is to develop and maintain our product cybersecurity management system's instructions, guidelines, provide cybersecurity architect and concept and release needed cybersecurity infrastructure requirements to ensure implementation of cybersecurity concept. Along with this we are also responsible to ensure cybersecurity type approval for R155, coordinate the work with technical services and type approval authority.

Some critical tasks that needs to be driven in this role:
As project leader you need to have a good technical understanding about cybersecurity concept for the vehicle, act as interfaces to the teams involved in development and coordinate the work in close collaboration to all stakeholders involved, like - internal R&D organization, technical services, and type approval authority. You might also have in some project collaboration with external customers of Volvo Group to support them by their Type approval process. To be able to execute the technical aspect of this work you need to act as an architect with knowledge about project contents and be able to do risk evaluation by analysis E/E topology and interfaces to relevant TARAs.
In this work you will get the opportunity to work with the latest cybersecurity solutions and lead all phases of projects, programs and initiatives of diverse scope and complexity. You will also work and collaborate with different ARTs (Agile Release Train) and introduce cybersecurity infrastructure requirements.
The main responsibilities entailed in this role are being the technical project leader within cybersecurity, to plan new and extension for Type approval and be the technical support to security technologies that support implementation, evolution, and operations of the multi-layer authentication infrastructure.

As a person, you have a broad technical know-how combined with very good people skills and a strong belief in agile methods. You have a strong ability to inspire, develop and motivate individuals and teams.


Required qualifications:
BSc. or MSc. in Computer Science, Electronics or equivalent
Experience within Embedded System Engineering
Documented experience in at least one of these areas: system safety concept design, architect design or cybersecurity concept design
Previous experience of working with type approval for R155
Documented experience of working with ISO/SAE 21434 and CSMS
Knowledge within cybersecurity requirement system design
Experience in agile methods

About the role

Information about the project
The successful candidate will participate in the EU-project HiDrive and interact with researchers and companies on European level.

The successful candidate will work on algorithms for location estimation and trajectory planning in complex traffic situations such as, e.g., crossings and round-abouts. The algorithms build on uncertain information, partly, communicated from other vehicles, and how the performance of the algorithm depends on the uncertainties is in focus. The goal is to better optimize the overall system by including the use of the communication channel and the freedom in the control in the design. HiDrive aims at demonstrating automated driving functions in "particularly challenging and complex environments" so that is also the problem setting for our algorithms.

The position is at the division of Systems and Control within the Mechatronics group and in the project there is a close cooperation with the Communication research group, all at the department Electrical Engineering, at Chalmers. In your work environment at the department you will be part of a team of PhD students, post-docs and senior researchers working projects concerning modeling, design and control with several application areas. Many projects concern traffic safety and autonomous driving. The group is a part of the Department of Electrical Engineering (E2), which to a large extent deals with the modeling and development of efficient systems for extracting and processing information. Major responsibilities
The working time of post-doctoral staff is mainly devoted to research. Undergraduate teaching duties, not
exceeding 20% of the working time, may include supervision of MSc or BSc students. 

Contract terms
The appointment is a full time employment (not a scholarship) for a period of not more than two years.

Qualifications
By the starting date, the applicant should have a PhD in control or related field such that, signal processing, communication or neighbouring relevant field. Experience from research and development within relevant technical area including radio positioning, radar, trajectory prediction as well as machine learning is beneficial.

Appropriate programming skills are required is welcome. A genuine interest and curiosity in the subject, ability to initiate new research collaborations, excellent oral and written English communication skills are needed.

As a foundation, we see that you have an education within Mechanics or Mechatronic or have equivalent competence. In addition, you preferably have previous hands-on experience of working with mechanical or mechatronics development.

THE POSITION

As Lead Engineer - Battery Systems and Propulsion, you’ll be responsible for realizing the power of stunning new Voi vehicles which set us apart from our competitors. • Be the expert on battery technology, charging infrastructure and electric propulsion in the team that owns our vehicle platform
• Be deeply involved in design, prototyping, and testing of all electrical systems inside our vehicles
• Stay on top of technological trends and make sure Voi’s vehicles are at the cutting-edge of battery and charging efficiency, safety and reliability
• Evaluate different technologies and suppliers to find the best battery, charging and powertrain solutions for our vehicles
• Work with other engineers in analysis, investigation and resolution of vehicle problems as they related to the electrical systems
• Lead development of supplier specifications and standards for all vehicle systems
• Define and maintain test specifications and procedures for all vehicle electrical systems
• Be the expert in the future strategy of battery and charging technology for Voi vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in electric vehicle domains
• Knowledge of Battery structure, Cell chemistry, Battery packs, BMS design, Charging infrastructure and more.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with electric vehicles
• Experience building test infrastructure for electrical vehicles
