What you will do 
As a Process Engineer in our prototype line facility, you will be responsible for a specific process and its related equipment. In this role, you will take a leading position in process development, optimization, and technical problem solving, while also working hands-on with experimental activities and equipment support. 
You will lead process development and improvement projects using systematic Design of Experiments (DOE) to better understand key parameters and improve product quality and electrochemical performance. A key part of the role is to analyze data, identify trends, and translate findings into actions that improve both quality and efficiency. You will also troubleshoot technical issues, support commissioning of new equipment, and collaborate closely with suppliers during FAT, SAT, and equipment modifications when needed. 
Working cross-functionally with material and cell design teams, you will help ensure successful battery cell development and share key learnings with relevant stakeholders. You will also be involved in evaluating future equipment needs and driving implementation of upgrades and new solutions. Over time, you will build deep knowledge in process design, equipment optimization, maintenance, planning, analytics, and controls.

Experience with commissioning of new equipment and coordination with equipment suppliers

Volvo Energy is providing a highly qualified digital platform, an Energy Management System (EMS), to control our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
 
We are now looking for Senior OT Network & Systems Engineer that will support in establishing cyber secure connectivity towards BESS units and the BESS digital twin using the appointed Volvo Energy Site Controller.
 
As the energy space rely on standards for interoperability between energy systems, like Modbus, IEC 60870-5, 61850 and DNP-3, you make sure that the IoT Edge solution is designed according to cyber security standards. You also ensure cyber secure connectivity to the Volvo Energy EMS solution via MQTT/OPC-UA as defined by the Volvo Energy target architecture.
 
You will work closely together with several different qualified teams to help design and build the solution and report functionally to the Volvo Energy Head of Enterprise architecture.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
In this role, you’ll take the lead in shaping the OT network architecture that powers our BESS units around the world. You’ll design secure, scalable network environments—everything from segmentation and VLAN structures to DMZ zones and redundancy strategies—both for our own products and for customer sites. As the technical owner of our OT networking landscape, you’ll create and maintain clear, high?quality diagrams and documentation that bring structure to complex systems and ensure smooth integration with cloud platforms and external SCADA/EMS solutions.
 
A big part of your work will center around cybersecurity. You’ll define modern firewall rulesets built on IEC 62443 and zero?trust principles, validate safe communication paths for industrial protocols like Modbus, and take full responsibility for the lifecycle of our OT firewalls. That includes firmware updates, patching strategies, redundancy testing, vendor coordination, and the automated deployment of configurations across our global BESS fleet using FortiManager.
 
You’ll also play a hands-on role in our production environments—diving into troubleshooting, leading root?cause analysis, and contributing to cybersecurity assessments and audits that strengthen our defenses. Collaboration will be at the heart of your everyday work. You’ll partner with engineering teams at our assembly plants to ensure firewalls are configured correctly from the moment a unit is built, and you’ll work with Digital/IT teams to define secure, future?proof IT–OT demarcation points. Along the way, you’ll also share your expertise with junior engineers and project teams, helping them grow while raising the overall technical bar.
 
Required Qualifications
7+ years in OT networking, industrial networking, or cybersecurity engineering roles.
Strong experience with L2/L3 switching, routing, and industrial network design.
Hands-on experience with firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent).
Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus/TCP, IEC 61850, 60870-5, DNP3, MQTT and OPC-UA).
Experience with network automation or configuration as code approaches.
Familiarity with NERC CIP, IEC 62443, ISO 27001, or comparable cybersecurity frameworks.
Solid understanding of cyber security, data management and modern integration technologies
Experience from Agile development and DevOps practices
Strong technology interest - always interested in learning more
Ability to work in a heterogenous environment with several development teams, both inhouse and with players in the Digital Ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll take the lead in shaping the OT network architecture that powers our BESS units around the world. You’ll design secure, scalable network environments—everything from segmentation and VLAN structures to DMZ zones and redundancy strategies—both for our own products and for customer sites. As the technical owner of our OT networking landscape, you’ll create and maintain clear, high?quality diagrams and documentation that bring structure to complex systems and ensure smooth integration with cloud platforms and external SCADA/EMS solutions.
 
A big part of your work will center around cybersecurity. You’ll define modern firewall rulesets built on IEC 62443 and zero?trust principles, validate safe communication paths for industrial protocols like Modbus, and take full responsibility for the lifecycle of our OT firewalls. About the role
The Embedded Software Architect has a holistic view of the complete Embedded SW development process including documentation and toolchains, as it relates to our partner’s product offering. The mission is to ensure a cost-effective and quality-secured Embedded SW development process as well as remaining compliant with Competition Law.
Responsibilities
• Build trust with key partner stakeholders by being a good business partner and actively looking after their interests, but also communicating concerns for Volvo interests towards the partner when needed.
• Ensure that the VT organization follows the process to document EUF requirements and use-cases as well as the system specification and modeling in SE-Tool and other relevant tools for partner product classes. In addition, to support the ‘Black Box’ strategy to only share information necessary to fulfill signed agreements. It is intended to use Disclosure Modeling to identify information that must be shared to the partner vs internal Volvo information.
• Ensure that the VT organization & responsible suppliers properly document delivery information (nodes, parameters, sub-hardware, MSWs, diagnostic objects, delivery notes, test results, etc) for each baseline release as agreed hand-over for ISUZU testing.
• Ensure partner developed ECUs and ESW follow the agreed process to document necessary information in Volvo systems that will enable ESW updates as well as Production and Aftermarket tool support and related services (ie, diagnostics, etc). Note: not necessary for agreed exclusions.
• Participate and support internal working groups for the KOLA Day 3 implementation as related to VT – Isuzu scope.
• Participate in Alliance WoW Reference Group as VT – Isuzu Partnership representative.
• Participate in internal Volvo VT ESW development process improvement forums (i.e., GTT SW Ecosystem) or minimum be aware of outcomes. Also, to propose relevant improvements for consideration by the Alliance TCT if they impact existing cross-company interfaces or processes/tools.
• Identify and initiate needed Volvo IT tool and system updates to support agreed ESW processes and strategies.
• Ensure Isuzu has the necessary information and interfaces to secure unique Android App development to be installed on-board the vehicle. It is intended for Isuzu to have more autonomous or independent development in this area (Service Platform) longer term, but will require some coordination and approval by Volvo. This will require Isuzu to follow processes similar to 3rd Party App developers.
• Prepare for future processes, tools and interfaces to support unique Isuzu service applications using Linux containers and/or Adaptive Autosar services to be installed on core HPCs.

What you will do
At Supply Network Quality you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.
You will be part of a global team with technology specialists at Supply Network Quality, SNQ. You will drive, maintain and develop a network of auditors to be able to support all regions within Truck Quality in the areas of cast aluminium and machining. Curiosity is a part of your nature, to scout new technologies within the aluminium foundries and machining supplier field. You will as well coach SQE’s in the network when it comes to sourcing, evaluate new suppliers and solve process issues. Also, it is natural for you to work cross functional, especially with sourcing buyer to create strategies and with engineering to match process and components in a good way.
In this role you will perform on site audits at suppliers to review their capability. Train and maintain the network of auditors and continue to develop the audit tools, evaluations and requirements will be some of your tasks. Also, develop our suppliers with follow-up of gaps identified during the audits. Your other main responsibilities will be:
Support the organization both in project and maintenance phase
Run the SNQ network meeting to share experience and knowledge within the community

MSc Thesis proposal at Volvo Group
(30 ECTS credits, 20 weeks, One student, Spring 2026) 
AVAS signal for electric vehicle can be arbitrary signals if the fulfil the requirements
According to the regulation UN_138. The regulation demands a minimum overall sound pressure level. The signal should cover at least two third octave bands one above and one below 1600 Hz. It should also include a frequency shift depending on speed to indicate acceleration.
At the same time there are demands which are not directly expressed in the regulation UN_138, but which should be natural parts of a functioning warning system.
These could be that the signals are detectable in good time before a vehicle is close to the pedestrian (often expressed in time to collision) and that signals help to localise vehicles around a pedestrian. These properties also have to work under natural conditions, i.e. when ambient noise (e.g. other vehicles or traffic noise in general) is present.
Finally, the AVAS signals should not be source of environmental noise having a negative impact on people (this concerns both people outdoors but also inside housing).
The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to investigate how to add an additional value to these AVAS signals by including information about the size of the vehicle. Pedestrian should get from the AVAS signal the impression that there is a truck approaching.

What you will do

The task is to study how far such an approach is possible and what would be the consequences in the frame of demands given.

The work will consist of several steps
1) Literature research on perceived source size (e.g. in room acoustics)
2) Fundamental research with different types of signals and source configuration to see if the perceived source size can be influenced (maybe accompanied by a listening test)
3) Full scale simulation (either experimentally or numerically) to test the approach
4) Evaluation of the solution with respect to other demands (if time allows)

About the Thesis

Acoustically transparent wind tunnels for vehicle testing
Acoustically transparent wind tunnels enable cost-effective studies of flow-generated sound, such as wind noise around the cab of a truck. The walls of the wind tunnel control the flow but are designed to be acoustically "transparent". Placed in an already existing acoustic room, accurate acoustic measurements can then be carried out outside the tunnel in a simple way. The project aims to achieve a solution that is easy to construct, with available materials, that produces results with engineering precision. The proposed method has the potential to reduce both costs and lead time in the development manifold.


Scope of the project:
· Litterature survey – state of the art and possible engineering solutions
· Simple modelling
· First experiments with material candidates
· Report
This work is suitable for one or two students. The candidates should have taken courses in acoustics and preferably aeroacoustics.

Your profile:

· One or two Master’s student(s) in mechanical, applied physics or electrical engineering. The candidates should have taken courses in acoustics and preferably aeroacoustics.

Are you passionate about building robust, secure, and adaptable data environments for the future of autonomous vehicles? We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will establish and maintain high-quality data environments, ensuring consistent and secure access for all authorized users. You will work closely with multiple project and product delivery teams, providing data engineering leadership and end-to-end support throughout the data lifecycle. As a key interface with stakeholders, you will deliver scalable data engineering solutions that drive our mission forward.


The role
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the backbone of our data infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on data pipeline development, where you will design, develop, and maintain robust pipelines for uploading, ingesting, extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL/ELT) data from a variety of sources into our data lake. This includes implementing advanced ingestion techniques and managing multiple file formats, with a particular emphasis on time series data such as Mcap and MDF4.
You will also take ownership of database and data lakehouse management, architecting and maintaining both relational and non-relational databases to ensure scalable, high-performance data storage and retrieval. A key part of your work will involve designing and optimizing our Data Lakehouse solution to enable unified analytics, efficient governance, and seamless integration of structured and unstructured data. Ensuring robust security, access controls, and compliance across all data platforms will be a critical responsibility.
Maintaining data quality is essential, and you will participate in rigorous testing and monitoring to guarantee accuracy and integrity throughout all pipelines. Additionally, you will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines and architecture, actively updating team resources in Confluence and contributing to roadmap discussions. Knowledge sharing and supporting ongoing maintenance within the team will be part of your day-to-day activities.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, review colleagues’ code and deliveries, and uphold clean coding practices and high standards. Your problem-solving skills and ability to foster teamwork will ensure the success of our data initiatives.

You will help design and integrate camera-based systems which provide a great and safe driving experience. The work requires a lot of cooperation with other teams inside and outside our organization. You’ll work at the intersection of hardware, software, and system integration, ensuring that our human vision solutions deliver reliable performance in all driving conditions. Key Responsibilities
• Define and manage both functional and non-functional requirements, and interfaces for camera-based human vision systems.
• Develop and maintain system architecture and integration involving cameras, ECUs, and vehicle networks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, HMI software, test, safety, software platform, etc.) to ensure system functionality and performance.
• Support verification and validation activities, including test planning, issue analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Volvo system engineering standards, functional safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and legal demands such as R158 and R46.
• Act as a technical bridge between suppliers, internal teams, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in automotive system engineering, preferably with camera-based or perception systems.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, sensors, and vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with system design and requirements management tools (e.g., SystemWeaver, Polarion, DOORS).
• Strong analytical mindset and structured approach to problem-solving.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

What are we looking for in this specific role?
As a BESS Monitoring and Commissioning Specialist, you will ensure the availability of the BESS by managing incidents to complete issue resolution in a timely manner. This includes responsive reactive maintenance as well as planned preventive infrastructure maintenance. Key responsibilities include performing remote monitoring, provide commissioning support and coordinating with internal teams to resolve technical issues.


Responsibilities will include among others:
Provide after sales service support BESS customers through telephone and email to achieve good customer satisfaction.
Support onsite field services team and service partners in commissioning, maintenance work, fault diagnosis, including ordering parts for onsite repairs
Perform basic O&M by monitoring systems remotely and basic warranty work.
Ability to offer remote technical support to the site commissioning team in resolving routine troubleshooting issues.
Lead commissioning effort to achieve commercial operations, and handover from delivery/construction team to the O&M team for each project.
Quick escalation to 3rd/4th line support Team for higher level technical issues
Ensure adherence to contractual commissioning milestones.
Continuously develop knowledge of all relevant products and services.

About the Role
As the Director of Product Strategy and Preparation, you will be responsible for initiating, driving, and coordinating all activities related to the Product Strategy globally for GTO Cab and Vehicle. You will also have direct responsibility for executing the Product Process development for Volvo products in Europe and actively support similar activities for Renault, Volvo North America, and Mack.

• Graduate engineer with broad knowledge of Product Process development.

What you will do

As a Commodity Buyer, you will be accountable for the QDCFTSR of the supplier base on the connector segment in Europe.
