• Develop and maintain Quality systems and tools
• Contribute to the development of global strategies and plans for manufacturing processes
• Establish clear product requirement and be the interface to GTT
• Secure excellence in Project execution and Product introductions
• Develop and implement global way of working within Quality & Engineering.
• Develop global expertise and resources in critical knowledge areas
We are now looking to reinforce our Product Preparation department with a Technical Preparation Engineer. The TPE is the main Group Trucks Operations (GTO) representative towards product development departments at Group Trucks Technologies (GTT) and Business Areas (BA) in product design questions in early to mid-phases of product projects. In this role you will be reporting to the Product Preparation Director within the Manufacturing Engineering Powertrain team.
Purpose and content of the role
The position holder will act as the main interface in product development between GTO Powertrain Plants and GTT Product development. Starting off, transmission area will be your focus, but other powertrain systems could also be considered moving forward. Main activities and responsibilities
Secure that product development delivers on the project target
Set technical requirements on product development
Evaluate and recommend product concepts.
Manage internal ‘GTO Product’ coordination
Provide input on manufacturing impact to project
Manage product documentation
Manage activities to balance design solutions in connection to industrial solutions/processes in early stages
Drive product problems resolution process
Manage and develop knowledge in area of responsibility
Given sufficient experience, the following additional tasks/missions may occur:
Contribute to regional or global projects as the main TPE and be part of the GTO project management team
Required knowledge/experience
• You have a strong drive, energy level and ability to manage different business topics. It is also important that you are able to work independently and take own initiatives.
• Knowledge of product development, understanding of manufacturing quality control methods, quality tools (e.g. DFA, P-FMEA) and virtual Manufacturing (tool check, review 3D-model and 2D- drawing) is an advantage.
• Experience from Manufacturing and/or Engineering
• Master Degree in Science or equivalent by experience
Critical competencies for the position
Experience:
Target of 5 years of work within the Automotive Industry, preferably trucks industry
Knowledge from project work within Volvo
Experience from production engineering and/or production is an asset
Technical competencies:
Knowledge of automotive products
Knowledge in product development
Knowledge in use of quality tools, e.g. Design For Assembly (DFA), P-FMEA etc.
Personal skills:
Be a network builder and team player in a multicultural environment
Solution & improvement focused and dedicated to deliver on time
Negotiation skills
Analytic skills
