Your future role?


We are looking for a group manager for a team of very skilled lead and senior engineers with global ownership of alternative fuel supply systems, as well as specific components, supporting electrification of our trucks. You will be responsible for those areas from cradle to grave. This means that you need to drive activities from Advanced Engineering, through industrialisation up to maintenance and end of life. Together with our lead engineers, you will have the reponsibility of our Product Strategy Roadmaps (PSRs) for your technical scope.


We need you to play an active role in developing our Global Technology Area and shape our Product Stream and to move together from a project driven organisation into a product evolution setup.

I woke up early this morning. Early like in really early. The rain was pouring outside and I have never seen a sky that grey before. We are working with handling of documents, product structure and CAD models in the release of Volvo Penta products. Your work tasks range between IP Plan creation, engaging with specific technology projects, supporting inventors and anchoring IP targets with business partners. You ensure that IP targets in your IP portfolio are achieved. To succeed in this role you lead a cross-functional portfolio team that includes members such as IP Intelligence analyst, IP Portfolio Partner, Patent Attorneys and IP Legal. You track performance versus targets via Key Performance Indicators.


You support continuous improvement of processes, methods and tools for executing on IP strategies.
You support IP training in the Business Domain.

Hyttverkstaden består av många olika delar med huvudsyfte att leverera prototypdetaljer i en mängd olika typer av material, t ex metall, trä, och plast. Dessa används i huvudsak till hårdvaruverifiering som är ett viktigt led i utvecklingsprocessen av hytter och kompletta lastvagnar. Hyttverkstaden är alltid med tidigt i utvecklingsprocessen, har en stor och betydande del i sk mockup byggnationer, koncept och showfordon.
Hyttverkstaden är en skapande verkstad där hela utvecklingskedjan, från idé till fysiskt detalj omfattas. Input och underlag för prototyptillverkningen kommer från CAD modeller, ritningar, skisser och våra främsta uppdragsgivare är konstruktion och produktdesign.


Vi använder oss av både avancerad programvara (CAD, metrolog, magics etc) och avancerade maskiner (waterjet, NC fräs, 3D printing) under delar av tillverkningsprocessen. I övrigt tillverkas detaljer med hjälp av praktisk kunskap, handkraft och andra handmanövrerade maskiner som t ex kantbock, kantpress och vattenskärare gällande plåt och t ex justersåg, panelsåg, slip och hyvel gällande trä.

Role description


Patent Attorneys is an expert in matters relating to patents. Patent Attorneys are responsible for protecting inventions and obtaining patent protection, and challenging third party patent rights to leverage Volvo Group’s leading technology position. Patent Attorneys are also responsible for giving proactive advice to R&D projects, inventors and other stakeholders relating to proprietary and third party patent rights. You will also have responsibility to support and contribute in further development of IP services and processes.


The Swedish team including you, as well as the manager responsible for the global teams, report directly to the Group Director Patents. The position offers a global working environment with dedicated and professional colleagues.

Handle IP generation / invention harvesting workshops and provide advice and guidelines on inventions, invention disclosures, patent protection strategies and proprietary as well as third party patent rights

Job description


As System Verification Engineer /ESW Engineer you will define the framework for automatic tests for our new platform as well as our current diagnostic solution, TechTool. You will be part of the team that provides test environments to our different development teams. This will be both HIL and SIL environments and sometimes even a real truck. In order to make really relevant test cases it is important that you understand the End to End Diagnostic flow. Even if your main duty will be to work with the automation framework you will also be part of all necessary steps in the SW testing process including test preparation, test execution and test reporting.


Your main focus will be to:
Define and develop the test framework to be used by the different agile teams(including verification engineers) for verification
Prepare necessary upgrades for system under test (SUT) before execution
Independently execute tests in our test environments (HIL&SIL; rigs, trucks, simulation models, etc.)
Report the results in a clear and traceable way and be part of retrospectives on our way of working

Required knowledge/experience:
A Master or Bachelor degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering, Physics Engineering or Mechatronics/Automation Engineering) or equivalent professional experience
Good knowledge about electronics / embedded SW testing on system level
Have worked with a framework for test automation (e.g. Robot Framework) and good knowledge of the different methods for monitoring / steering a system under testing and logging the data
Basic knowledge of the equipment for electronics System testing (CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.)
Good knowledge in programming (e.g. Python)

Job description
As a test engineer at the testing group you will be directly involved in the development work of gearboxes and involved in a wide range of analysis and verification assignments. You will work in a test environment that stretches from test cells of different complexity up to complete vehicle level. 
The NVH testing are at single components up to complete powertrain at vehicle and in test cells.

To be successful in this role is you have an intrinsic passion for quality. You have extensive knowledge and experience within Quality Management and will in this role work in a broad context covering quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement. We also believe you have several years of experience within the automotive or related industry and a general technical understanding and preferably knowledge of engines and transmissions. Since networking and cross functional collaboration is vital in this role great communication skills both in terms of dialogue, presentations and reports is needed. You will operate in a truly global context but be placed in Sweden why you need to be fluent in both Swedish and English.
 
We believe your personality is systematic, analytical and that you have a structured approach and ways of working. We also think that you enjoy working on as well operational and tactical as on strategic level. You have proven experience from working with change initiatives and a good ability to lead cross functional teams where communication is key.

About us
 
Safety is a core value for the Volvo Group and prerequisite for customer success.
 
The Safety Compliance department has the responsibility globally to drive and coordinate the work with product safety within Volvo Penta. In this work we are active in all stages in the product and service lifecycle: understanding and influencing coming legal demands, participating in development projects and to maintain and secure that our products and services are compliant.
 
Volvo Penta is active globally in industry associations working with regulations and standards related to our products, and supporting regulators in the development of such. Within regulatory change management we actively follow the development of new regulations in order to support Product Planning with correct information regarding future product requirements and project target values as well as ensuring product/project compliance with applicable legislation over time.
 
An important part of the responsibility is to handle type approval and product certification of marine products and agreements with classification societies to qualify Volvo Penta as a producer of classified products to the marine industry.
 
The function is owner of the Core value Safety and is coordinating product liability issues being a member of the Volvo Penta Product Safety Committee.
 
The Safety Compliance area is transforming with increased use of new technologies. To manage this transformation there is a high need for new competences and resources.
 
To be successful in this role you need to have an intrinsic passion not only for safety but as important is a passion for people where you will lead and develop the department both in operational activities and more long term strategic initiatives.
 
You will report to the VP Quality, Environment and Product Compliance and be a part of the Quality, Environment and Product Compliance management team.


Department responsibilities:
Strategic planning and responsible for Product Safety as a function
Establish regulatory targets for new projects together with Product Planning
Establish regulatory requirements for new projects together with Product Development
Participate in product projects to secure fulfilment of safety related requirements
Manage type approval certificates for Marine Commercial products both in projects and in production.
Coordination of product safety liability issues
Representing Volvo Penta in industry associations and in contacts with regulatory bodies
Market communication of regulation issues

Desirable experience and qualifications
Master of Science degree or similar level of education within relevant area
High leadership skills
Experience from regulatory work preferably related to product safety
Experience from new technology areas i.e. electromobility, connectivity and automation
Since interaction with both external and internal contacts is crucial for achieving results, good networking and communication skills both in terms of reports, presentations and dialogue are of high importance
A structured and accurate way of working
Fluent in Swedish and English is a minimum. Other language skills are welcome

a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drive the electromobility
product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within

The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified
powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). We are accountable for the lifecycle
management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, to product development and
maintenance.


The ESS section are now recruiting an Thermal engineer


You will be part of an agile and approachable organization with skilled product teams consisting of
passionate people, in an optimistic atmosphere, where joy, knowledge sharing and

What will you do?


We are working in a cross-functional way from concept and design, to final verification and implementation in production. You will be responsible for the ESS Thermal HW design, meaning primarly requirement-based development. But it’s also a very close copperation with CAD engineers, Function owners, System engineers and Test engineers within ESS. There is an important interface towards the Vehicle thermal system, as well as the supplier for the ESS or the Thermal system, that your need to manage. You will be involved in all the technical decisions towards projects and suppliers concering the Thermal system, making sure that deadlines are met with the right quality and at the right cost.
 
Who are you? Are we a perfect match?


We believe that to be successful in this position, you are a pragmatic team player that loves to develop Thermal systems with the customer in focus. You have a broad knowledge and experience of developing thermal systems in a vehicle/automotive environment and are used to express yourself within requirement specifications. You feel comfortable of owning and take responsibility of your components from Pre-study and concept phase, up to Implementation and into maintenance and you do so with an great attitude.


We also believe that you have:
Master of Science in Mechanical engineering or equivalent
Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
At least 7+ year of mechanical hardware development within automotive industry for a OEM or a supplier

It is considered a merit if you have experience within one or several of the following:
KOLA and other Volvo Group Technology tools
Agile Principals and methods.
